⚡️ September Update - All Systems Go! ⚡️
7 months ago – Fri, Sep 05, 2025 at 09:41:42 AM

Hi All - I hope this email finds you well, the monthly update is as follows:

WE ARE MOVING TO MANUFACTURING!

After receiving the final prototype on Monday, and with nothing but positive news to report (the motor speed and strength is superb, and the functionality fantastic), there is nothing stopping us getting the show on the road.

Which is exactly what we will do - meaning we are on track to deliver your orders by December.

In line with everything that's happened to date, I should say that I've been advised that things can go wrong, however as I have mentioned a few times I am working with one of the best operators in the business - Centreline - who have over 40 years experience.

Anyway, until we speak again next month but do feel free to join our VIP Facebook group, where I make more regular product updates:

⚡️ August Update - Progress On All Fronts⚡️
8 months ago – Mon, Aug 04, 2025 at 04:15:57 AM

Hi All - I hope this email finds you well, the monthly update is as follows!

We are tentatively good to start manufacturing from September.

I can't believe I'm writing that - and not because I didn't think it would happen - more that it is only a few weeks away and I've got some serious fund raising to do.

And I've lost my voice because of viral laryngitis - I'm day 5 of barely being able to speak, so the timing couldn't be worse.

Anyway...

Product Update

All signs are good - we've got confirmation that the new, stronger, motor (which is the same size as the previous one) and increased LiPo battery voltage (to 7.4V from 3.7V) is working well.

There will be also be sufficient battery life, tentatively over an hour of continuous use, which is great at that speed and torque.

Fundraising Update

We're close to raising what we need to begin tooling, but there's still a fair way to go to get our targeted amount.

If anyone is interested in investing in our company in return for an equity stake, do let us know as we're raising capital in a formal way i.e. we are close to having government approval, documentation etc, and we can send you our investor pack.

Other than that, and as always, feel free to join our VIP Facebook group where I make more regular product updates:

⚡️ July Update - Never a Dull Moment in Manufacturing ⚡️
9 months ago – Thu, Jul 03, 2025 at 04:46:35 AM

Hi All,

A very annoying hurdle just hit us like a freight train, as I received the prototypes from Centreline, my product designer, last week, tested them on Saturday but the motor isn’t strong enough.

Which means my crowdfunding is off for 2025, as this delay means we've missed the window to launch this year so we'll relaunch in Spring next year instead.

The good news is we're still on track for manufacturing this year as I'll raise private equity funds as the back up plan.

As to why the prototype motors aren't good enough, my account manager is claiming a miscommunication, which I subsequently disproved to the owner of the company - he's taken matters into his own hands and will fix the problem asap.

Never a dull moment in manufacturing in other words, but not exactly in a good way this time!

If you have any questions please feel free to ask as I’m always happy to respond, and thanks as always for bearing with me during these slightly turbulent times.

And feel free to join our VIP Facebook group where I make weekly product updates:

⚡️ June Update - Prototype Issues (now resolved!) ⚡️
10 months ago – Thu, Jun 05, 2025 at 06:48:39 AM

Hi All, please see the monthly update below!

Design and Manufacturing Update

I received the prototypes a couple weeks ago, which was a long time in the making and which I was looking forward to for many reasons, not least to show you how awesome they are.

But besides how awesome they looked (see photos below, and yes that is a backlight on the power button) there was clearly an issue with the motor as they just didn't function as expected.

Cue exasperation, disbelief and a whole other range of emotions (it's been 2.5 years and a lot of money spent on this thing) but thankfully my despair was short lived, as the designer (based in London, UK) advised me that the manufacturer (based in China) had put in the wrong motor.

One spends all that money and they get something so simple so wrong?

Yes, apparently (and yes, wtf..).

Anyway, the new motors will arrive in the UK next week, so I should have the updated prototypes the week after that ... and so the show will continue.

Production Timeframe

Hopefully this won't delay things too much, maybe a couple of weeks or so, but I'm starting to get uncomfortable with committing to a date, as it seems like just about anything can go wrong.

While I'm a little inexperienced with manufacturing, I am working with one of the UK's best designers using their manufacturing network (https://centreline.co.uk/), so I'm in as good hands as possible and will keep you updated whatever happens.

⚡️ Design and Manufacturing Update ⚡️(and Tariffs 😱😱😱)
11 months ago – Mon, May 05, 2025 at 12:39:15 PM

Hi All, please see the monthly update below!

Design and Manufacturing Update

Things are progressing pretty well, although not perfectly well, as there is a delay to the prototype by 2 - 3 weeks as they need to re-program the PCB. Annoying, as it will likely delay my 2025 crowdfund by a couple of weeks, but I don't think it will delay the start of manufacturing (at least I hope it won't).

To remind, manufacturing is happening from September and not June as indicated in the Kickstarter campaign page you backed me on last year.

And I'm also learning that design and manufacturing is hard, and that stuff happens, annoyingly.

Anyway, checkout the latest prototype drawings and designs here:

Tariff Update

The tariffs are causing a few headaches but we're working on a game plan to consider all scenarios. Worst case we might need to find a non-Chinese manufacturer, but we don't think this will be necessary as:

a) We think a US-Chinese deal will be struck before then, and;

b) For our next crowdfund we're selling to quite a lot of internationals at a slightly higher price than last year, which can help offset the cost to the USA customers.

Anyway, I will keep an eye on this and keep you updated as we go along.

Thanks all.
